Screening: Installation Process |
|
|
|
|
- Measure
and cut the timber for the framework to which
the screen will be attached. Assemble the framework
using wood glue and screws. For extra support
you may want to fix a brace from corner to corner.
Drill holes into the framework that will be
used to secure the framework to the supporting
wall.
- To
attach the frames to the courtyard walls using
a masonry drill bit, drill through the pre-drilled
holes in the frames and then fix the frames
to the walls with "Hilti" type mail
in achors (50mm x 8mm). Use a spirit level to
ensure each frame is level, and make sure all
frames are fixed to the wall at the same height.

|
|
|
- If
the frames require additional crosspieces to
hold the screening firmly, fix battens (38mm
x 38mm) to the framework using screws (50mm
x 4mm), evenly spaced down the framework.
* If you are working alone you
may find a G-Clamp handy.
- Attach
the screening to the battens using galvanised
fencing staples, starting from one side of each
frame and unrolling the screening as you work.

Using Posts & Mesh |
| Using
posts and the screen of your choice
you can create an interesting feature
in your garden. Simply use cable ties
to mount the screen, making sure you
use enough to keep the screen on the
mesh or other framework. |
